It is recognized by many graduate and business schools all over the world. The Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) is a 340 marks standardised test that is an admissions requirement for most graduate schools in the United States.
Thousands of colleges and universities worldwide have GRE as one of the criteria for admission to master’s programs in engineering, pharmaceuticals, management, etc. and other graduate level courses.
GRE General Test is offered as a computer-based exam for Verbal, Quantitative, Analytical and Experimental Section.
The test centres in Gujarat are at Ahmedabad, Vadodara, and Gandhinagar.
GRE is a Computer Adaptive Test (CAT).
The test is further bifurcated into two broad categories:-
GRE General Test : All the prospective candidates plan to appear for the general test which measures the overall efficiency of all the subjects.
GRE Subjective Test: Not everyone has to take this test. You may take this test only if it is required by your university/college.
Note that, now GRE can be taken from home as well.
Test Administrator: The test is administered by ETS – Educational Testing Service

Test Schedule : The complete test is conducted on the same day
Test Duration : 3 hours and 45 minutes
Test Validity: 5 years
Test Fees: – $ 213, $50 for rescheduling the test or change in test centre
Nature of the Test: – Computer Adaptive Test
When is the test conducted: On almost all working days.
Declaration of Result: The raw score is available immediately after the exam. The score sheet is expected after 10 -15 working days.
Reporting: The score is sent to four Universities by ETS free of cost if the university preferences are decided before 48 hours of the test. ETS charges additionally for the scores which need to be sent to the university for reporting.
Note that, GRE raw scores for Verbal Reasoning and Quantitative Reasoning sections would be available to the candidates immediately after the test.
