Scholarships for Indian students in the UK

Here are some popular government scholarship programs you can apply to study in the UK as an Indian student:

1 Chevening Scholarship This programme assists brilliant people who have demonstrated prior leadership abilities and exceptional achievement in their fields. You can apply for a Chevening scholarship or fellowship, which are chosen by the high commission and British embassies.These scholarships are completely supported, covering airfare, living expenses, and tuition. 2 Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Students from Commonwealth countries can apply for fellowships and scholarships through the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the United Kingdom. Indian students applying for a master’s degree or a PhD in the UK can take advantage of this scholarship to fund their education. 3 GREAT Scholarships Under the Study UK initiative, the UK Government’s Great Britain Campaign and the British Council have partnered to support this scholarship. This programme comprises 99 postgraduate scholarships in a variety of topics from 36 UK universities. However, 12 UK higher education institutions are awarding 13 postgraduate scholarships to Indian students. The amount of each scholarship is a minimum of £10,000, the equivalent of one year’s tuition of a postgraduate (taught) degree. The application deadline varies as per different institutions, so you need to check the university’s website for the same.

4 Charles Wallace India Trust Scholarships (CWIT) These scholarships are awarded to Indian students who are in their early or mid-career who have experience in the arts, historical conservation, or humanities. Fully-funded awards, visiting fellowships in agreed-upon disciplines at specific institutions, doctorate study grants, grants for research and professional visits, and grants to attend the Scottish Universities Summer School are all included. The amount and duration may vary. CWIT Long-term grants: This normally lasts for 2-3 months to a year and includes housing, living expenses, and fees, as well as any contributions to overseas flights.Visiting fellowships: This includes 10 fellowships which enables writers, academics and translators to spend 2-3 months at specific host universities to carry out specific work activities. Your educational institute which hosts you has the liberty to decide upon the deadlines.CWIT short-term grants:This includes 10-15 grants that total up to £1,400 to pay UK costs of short research or professional trips by academic research scholars and professionals working in the arts, historical conservation and the humanities. This is normally awarded for a three-week period, and if you plan to stay longer, you will need to complement it with funds from other sources, such as an Indian council grant for historical study. This is due when you arrive in the UK and does not include foreign travel.Grants during the final year of doctoral study: This will be provided in your final year of doctoral study in arts, heritage conservation, and the humanities with the goal of filling funding gaps. 5 Scotland Saltire Scholarships The initiative provides 50 students with a one-year full-time graduate programme in science, healthcare, technology, and creative sectors, as well as renewable and clean energy.The Scottish government, in collaboration with Scottish universities, offers these. Each scholarship is worth £8,000 and covers tuition expenses for one year of full-time study in a postgraduate master’s programme at any Scottish higher education institution.
